USAV Partners with Penn State on Extravaganza

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (April 5, 2011) – USA Volleyball is partnering with Penn State University to produce the Volleyball Extravaganza in conjunction with the 2011 NCAA Men’s Volleyball Championship on May 5-7 in University Park, Pa.

The Volleyball Extravaganza includes activities to help promote and support not only those involved with boys’ and men’s volleyball, but all volleyball enthusiasts. USA Volleyball is producing a boys’ volleyball clinic, a coaches’ clinic, a parent resource clinic, a youth sport educators clinic and a U.S. Men’s National Training Team scrimmage. 

State College High School will also be hosting a boys’ high school volleyball tournament as part of the Volleyball Extravaganza and the Penn State Alumni Association will sponsor a golf outing.

USA Volleyball members can also get discounted tickets for the semifinals and finals of the NCAA Men’s Volleyball Championship. These tickets are $4 for both semifinal matches on May 5 and $4 for the championship match on May 7. To purchase tickets, click here.

The boys’ volleyball clinic is open to boys ages 12-18 who have not graduated from high school. Clinicians will include national team coaches and USAV High Performance coaches. Court coaches and support staff will include U.S. Men’s National Team players, men’s collegiate coaches and USAV High Performance coaches. To register, click here.

The coaches’ clinic is open to any volleyball coach interested in learning from some of the top volleyball coaches and instructors in the world. Club, elementary school, middle school, high school and college coaches are encouraged to attend. USAV CAP module credits will be available for an additional fee. At the free parent resource clinic, John Kessel from USA Volleyball will provide you with information to give you the tools needed to effectively support your athlete in their effort to reach their greatest potential. To register, click here.

The youth sport educators clinic is free and open to club coaches, PE teachers, YMCA staff, Boys & Girls Club staff, Scout staff, etc. Kessel will provide you with the tools necessary to assist you with volleyball programming for youth of all ages and abilities. To register, click here.

Finally, players and coaches competing in the State College Invitational (a high school volleyball tournament sponsored by Penn State) will have free access to the U.S. Men’s National Training Team inter-squad scrimmage at 9 p.m. on May 6. Tickets can also be purchased at the door for $4 for adults and $2 for students.
