Comcast Stations to Broadcast World League

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (June 7, 2010) – USA Volleyball has announced that fans can watch the U.S. Men’s National Volleyball Team compete in the 2010 FIVB World League on Comcast sports networks including VERSUS and Comcast Sports Group regional outlets.

The matches will air approximately two weeks after they are played. VERSUS will show the U.S. Men’s National Volleyball Team’s matches against Russia, to be played July 9-10 in Wichita, Kan. It will also broadcast matches from the final round, should the U.S. Men’s Team qualify.

Comcast Sports Group regional outlets will show all the U.S. pool play matches, including those played in other countries.  Outlets include Comcast SportsNet Bay Area, Comcast SportsNet California, Comcast SportsNet Chicago, Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic, Comcast SportsNet New England, Comcast SportsNet Northwest, Comcast SportsNet PhiladelphiaCSS, The Mtn. – MountainWest Sports Network and The Comcast Network – Philadelphia..

“We are excited that volleyball fans around the country will get to watch the U.S. Men’s National Team in action on VERSUS and the Comcast Sports Group outlets,” USA Volleyball Secretary General Kerry Klostermann said. “If you can’t watch the matches live, this will be a great option.”

Former U.S. Men’s National Team members and U.S. Olympians Kevin Barnett and Paul Sunderland will be providing commentary for the telecasts.

The FIVB World League is a men's volleyball competition created in 1990. It consists of 16 teams from around the world competing over the course of seven weeks. The total prize purse for the event is more than $20 million, with the overall winner receiving $1 million for winning the final round.
