COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Nov. 19, 2009) – USA Volleyball will host its Seventh Annual High Performance Coaches’ Clinic Jan. 21-23, 2010, at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. The theme for the clinic is “Getting Up to Speed for London” in reference to the site of the 2012 Olympic Games.

The 2010 USA Volleyball High Performance Coaches’ Clinic costs $425 for United States citizens and $500 for non-United States citizens. The clinic cost includes instruction, material and room and board at the U.S. Olympic Training Center. In conjunction with the USA Volleyball High Performance Coaches’ Clinic, the USAV Coaching Accreditation Program (CAP) will have additional CAP Level II modules on Jan. 20-21 and CAP Level III modules on Jan. 21-24 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center.

U.S. Women’s National Team Head Coach Hugh McCutcheon and U.S. Men’s National Team Head Coach Alan Knipe will serve as headline speakers at the USAV High Performance Coaches’ Clinic. Other members of the U.S. Women’s National Team coaching staff and past USAV High Performance Indoor Program coaches will also be among the speakers.

Among the tentative topics on the USAV High Performance Coaches’ Clinic schedule include comparisons between the men’s and women’s game, Offensive Speed, Reaction Speed, Movement Training, International Serving and Passing, Anaylsis of other Countries’ Game Cadence and Preparing Your Team for Varying Tempo Play. Other presentations will be made on Risk Versus Reward of a Fast Offense, Psychological Analysis of Coaching Styles, Practical Uses of Technology in Player Development and Stopping the Opponents’ Offense Through Blocking.

The USA Volleyball High Performance Coaches’ Clinic will focus on what it takes to win, as well as technological enhancements to teaching and learning. Sessions will be designed to incorporate participant discussion in examining the decision-making process and the on-court execution to help create their own strategies and tactics for given situations. Members of the U.S. Women’s National Team will serve as on-court demonstrators.

Registration for the clinic is available online by clicking here. The clinic is limited to the first 100 coaches who complete the registration process.

Since 2004, the USA Volleyball High Performance Department has featured this clinic as a way to bring together great coaching minds to network and share the most current, pertinent and critical issues in the sport.
