COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (May 30, 2009) – The U.S. Boys’ Youth National Team will play in Pool B with defending champion Iran, Serbia and Japan at the 2009 FIVB World Championship, Aug. 28-Sept. 6 in Jesolo and Bassana del Grappa, Italy.
Drawing of lots for the 2009 FIVB Boys' Youth World Championship was held May 28 at the Hotel Relais Monaco in Ponzano Veneto, Italy.
Six-time world champion Brazil was placed in Pool D with Russia, Poland and India. All Pool B and Pool D matches will take place in the resort city of Jesolo, Italy.
France, the bronze medalist in Tijuana & Mexicali, Mexico in 2007, was drawn into Pool C with Argentina, Spain and Algeria, while Pool A was filled with hosts Italy, Tunisia, Puerto Rico and Egypt. Pool A and Pool C matches will be played in Bassano del Grappa, Italy.
The tournament kicks off with a 24-match first round, with the first- and second-placed finishers in each pool moving on to Pools E and F in the second round.
