McCune Hired as USAV Foundation Development Director
Manager, Media Relations and Publications
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (May 27, 2009) – USA Volleyball is pleased to announce the hiring of Tim McCune as its development director for the USA Volleyball Foundation.
McCune officially assumes the position on June 22. However, he has worked with USAV senior staff in the interim to create the development plan and proposed budget to support Foundation fundraising operations, which was presented to the USAV Foundation Board of Directors meeting on May 21 in Minneapolis.
“I am humbled and honored to be selected as the first Director of Development for the USAV Foundation,” McCune said. “To be able to raise the awareness and the deserved resources for USA Volleyball that touches the lives from young people to Olympians and anyone with an ‘Olympic Dream’ is very exciting.”
The position and operational expenses are being funded entirely by the USA Volleyball Foundation, and will have no impact on USAV’s operating budget.
“We believe that the dedication of full-time, professional efforts to fundraising and the growth of the Foundation’s assets through major gifts and planned giving are essential to achieve the objectives upon which the Foundation was created,” said Fred Wendelboe, chair of the USA Volleyball Foundation.
McCune holds an impressive array of qualifications in the resource development, fundraising and capital campaign areas. Until taking the position with USAV, he was the director of corporate and foundation relations and associate director of development for Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colo.
In addition to his professional qualifications, McCune has been active in USA Volleyball programs with two daughters having played in junior club volleyball. He is also a past president of the NORCO Junior Club in Fort Collins.
“This is a great initiative to focus on establishing a legacy for USA Volleyball through our Foundation,” USA Volleyball CEO Doug Beal said. “I am excited about Tim’s energy, professionalism and background, not only in development, fundraising and work with foundations, but in his overall knowledge and past experience with our sport. He will be a major asset for the USA Volleyball Foundation, and our sport.”
