Two U.S. Beach Teams to Compete at NORCECA

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (March 25, 2009) – The beach volleyball teams of Mike Bruning (Tucson, Ariz.)/Jason Wight (West Springfield, Va.) and Kristen Batt (Venice, Fla.)/Megan Wallin (Siesta Key, Fla.) will represent the United States at the opening event of the NORCECA Beach Volleyball Circuit on March 27-29 in Cayman Islands.
Sixteen men’s teams and 16 women’s teams are expected to compete in the tournament, which features a double-elimination format.
Bruning and White have both played on the AVP Tour since 2000 with various partners.
Bruning graduated from the University of Arizona. In 2005, Bruning participated in his fourth Deaflympics, winning a silver medal in beach volleyball with partner Scott Majorino in Melbourne, Australia.
Wight played volleyball at George Mason University.
Batt and Wallin played six matches on the AVP Tour together in 2008. Wallin graduated from Cardinal Mooney High School in Florida where she was all state in volleyball and state champion in the high jump. Batt graduated from Venice High School in Florida where she led the team to a state championship and was Florida Gatorade player of the year her senior year.
Wallin played volleyball at Michigan State and Batt at the University of Kentucky.
