COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (March 13, 2009) – The U.S. Men’s and Women’s Sitting Volleyball Teams will face their counterparts from Canada on March 20-21 in matches that will be played as part of the Colorado Crossroads tournament at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver.

The U.S. Women’s Sitting Team will be playing its first matches since winning the silver medal at the 2008 Paralympic Games in Beijing. The team went 3-2 and fell to China in the gold medal match.

The last major competition in which the U.S. Men’s Sitting Team participated was the 2007 Para Panamerican Games where it won the silver medal after falling to Brazil in the final match.

The matches against Canada are being held to help both countries prepare for the Para Panamerican Zone Championships that will be held in May.

The women will play at 12:30 p.m. and the men at 7 p.m. on March 20. The teams will play again on March 21, with the women playing at 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. and the men playing at noon and 7 p.m.

The teams will hold autograph sessions after each match and members from the U.S. Women’s Paralympic Sitting Volleyball Team will have their silver medals available for viewing and photos.

Tickets are required to attend the tournament. For more information, go to www.coloradocrossroads.org.

The Canadian Men’s Sitting Team was the bronze medalist at the 2007 Para Panamerican Games while the Canadian women began their program in 2008.
