FIVB Announces Pools for Men's Junior World Championship

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (June 18, 2009) – The U.S. Men’s Junior National Team will play in Pool A with host India, Tunisia and Belarus at the 2009 FIVB Men’s Junior World Championship on July 31-Aug. 9 in Pune, India.
The FIVB held the drawing of lots for the World Championship on June 18 in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Defending champion Brazil was drawn into Pool D, which includes Poland, Canada and 2007 runner-up Russia. Pool B consists of 2007 bronze medalist Iran, along with China, Egypt and Belgium. Pool C features Greece, Cuba, Argentina and France.
The tournament begins with a 24-match first round, with the top two teams from each pool advancing to Pools E and F in the second round.

Pool A: Tunisia, United States, Belarus and India
Pool B: Iran, China, Egypt and Belgium
Pool C: Greece, Cuba, Argentina and France
Pool D: Russia, Poland, Canada and Brazil
