MIAMI, Fla. (July 3, 2009) – The 30th USA Junior Olympic Girls’ Volleyball Championships, hosted by USA Volleyball at the Miami Beach Convention Center, crowned three champions in 15-and-under age division brackets on Friday as the 10-day event runs from June 26 to July 5.

TAV 15 Asics (North Texas) captured the 15 Open Division title with a 25-18, 25-16 victory over Asics MAVS 15-1 (Heart of America) in the bracket’s gold-medal match. TAV 15 Asics zipped past Skyline 15 RoShamBo (North Texas) 25-18, 25-20 in the quarterfinals and Santa Barbara 15 Blue (Southern California) 24-26, 25-17, 15-8 in the semifinals. The silver medalist Asics MAVS 15-1 reached the title match by defeating A5 151 Heidi (Southern) 22-25, 25-18, 15-11 in the semifinals and Texas Tornados 15 Mizuno (Lone Star) 25-15, 26-24 in the quarterfinals.

Laguna 15 Wizard (Southern California) captured the 15 National title with a 25-20, 25-16 victory over CVC 15 Black (Ohio Valley) in the title match. Laguna 15 Wizard made the final match by defeating Stingray 15 Black (Northern California) 25-21, 11-25, 15-10 in the quarterfinals and Circle City 15 Purple (Hoosier) 25-22, 25-14 in the semifinals. CVC 15 Black moved into the gold-medal match after handling Boomers 15 Elite (Florida) 15-25, 25-18, 15-13 in the quarterfinals and SA Xtreme 15 National (Lone Star) 25-20, 25-16 in the semifinals.

Vision 15 Blue (Northern California) topped TAV 15 Molten (North Texas) to win the 15 American Division with a 25-18, 25-23 victory in the gold-medal match. Vision 15 Blue advanced to the title match by defeating Rockwood thunder 151 (GW) 16-25, 25-15, 15-9 in the quarterfinals and Mizuno M1 151 (North Country) 22-25, 25-19, 15-10 in the semifinals. TAV 15 Molten downd Impact 15 Mitch (Southern California) 25-13, 25-12 in the quarterfinals and C4 Crush 15 (Gateway) 26-24, 25-14 in the semifinals.

The 18 Open, 18 National and 18 American Division champions will be the next group to be declared winners on July 4.

This year’s USA Junior Olympic Girls’ Volleyball Championships includes 9,500 athletes from 788 teams. The tournament will crown 19 champions in age divisions ranging from 12-18. Open Division titles are disputed for the 14s, 15s, 16s, 17s and 18s, while National Division and American Division contests championships for all seven age groups.
