COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Sept. 17, 2008) - In recognition of their accomplishments at the 2008 Paralympic Games in Beijing, several members of the U.S. Sitting Women's Volleyball Team will be honored upon their arrival at the University of Central Oklahoma on Friday, Sept. 19 at 7:15 p.m.
Kari Miller (Washington, DC), captain Brenda Maymon (Sellersburg, Ind.), Nichole Millage (Champaign, Ill.), Katie Holloway (Lake Stevens, Wash.) and Lora Webster (Phoenix, Ariz.) will be welcomed home at Will Rogers Airport, with University of Central Oklahoma community members, staff and students greeting the Paralympians. The team defeated the Netherlands, 19-25, 25-23, 28-26, 25-27, 15-10, in the semifinals to reach the gold medal match where they were swept by the host country, China on Sept. 14.
The celebration will take place at approximately 7:15 p.m. outside the West security gate at the airport. The public is encouraged to attend the event and welcome home the athletes.
