McCutcheon to be Honored by City of Anaheim

ANAHEIM, Calif. (Nov. 11, 2008) – The Anaheim Chamber of Commerce will honor USA Volleyball Head Coach Hugh McCutcheon as its Man of the Year at a luncheon on Wednesday (Nov. 12) at the Disneyland Hotel.

McCutcheon (Christchurch, New Zealand) is being recognized as a community leader after coaching the U.S. Men’s Volleyball Team to gold medals at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing and the 2008 FIVB World League.

McCutcheon and the U.S. Men’s Team moved to Anaheim from Colorado Springs, Colo., in 2006 and are based at the American Sports Center.

“It is truly an honor to receive this award,” McCutcheon said. “I am indebted to the city for their support for our program and believe that our being here has been an integral part of our recent success.”

The Chamber of Commerce will also honor 14 other Anaheim businesses and individuals.

“Our businesses are the backbone to our community, providing jobs, revenue, sales tax and bed tax which drive our city and pay for our services,” said Anaheim Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Todd Ament. “While we would like to honor all Anaheim businesses and thank them for their services, we have chosen the top companies and individuals who we feel have made a significant impact to the Anaheim business community over the past year.”

A selection committee, comprised of 17 representatives from the Anaheim Chamber board, City of Anaheim, Small Business Association, and other local businesses and organizations, selected the award winners from nominations received by the Anaheim Chamber of Commerce. Businesses and individuals were chosen for awards based on their contributions to the local and regional economy, their leadership role in the Anaheim business community, as well as their growth and stability over the past three years.
