COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Nov. 7, 2008)
- Jen Boss (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.) and April Ross (Costa Mesa, Calif.) have reached the semifinals of the SWATCH FIVB Beach World Tour event in Phuket, Thailand, after posting a pair of wins to remain undefeated on Friday at Karon Beach.

Eight teams remain in the main draw after Friday, with Boss and Ross and Australia's Tamsin Barnett and Becchara Palmer the lone undefeated tandems.

No. 2 seeded Boss and Ross started their day off with a tough three-set win over Doris and Stefanie Schwaiger of Austria, 16-21, 21-16, 16-14, in 63 minutes.

Fellow Americans Nicole Branagh (Orinda, Calif.) and Tyra Turner (Fort Myers Beach, Fla.) also won their third-round match, defeating Cristine Saka and Andrezza Rtvelo of Georgia, 21-17, 21-18, in 38 minutes. The win set the stage for an all-American fourth-round match between Branagh and Turner and Boss and Ross, with Boss and Ross pulling out the victory, 21-16, 21-12, to advance to Saturday's semifinals. Branagh and Turner are still alive, despite being one loss from elimination. The pair needs a win on Saturday to gain a spot in the semifinals as well.

Lauren Fendrick (Carlsbad, Calif.) and Ashley Ivy (Arlington, Texas) ran into a tough opponent in Barnett and Palmer in Round 3 on Friday, falling to the Aussies, 22-20, 23-21, in 48 minutes. With their backs against the wall and facing elimination however, Fendrick and Ivy pulled out a three set match against Finland's Erika and Emilia Nystrom, 18-21, 21-10, 15-11.

Fendrick and Ivy, seeded fifth, will play in the first match of the day on Saturday against Daniëlle Remmers and Michelle Stiekema of the Netherlands. The winner of that match will battle Branagh and Turner for the right to advance to the semifinals.
