USAV Announces Youth Teams for Beach Worlds

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (July 11, 2008) – USA Volleyball has announced the team that will compete at the SWATCH FIVB 2008 Youth World Championship for beach volleyball on July 30-Aug. 3 in The Hague, Netherlands.

In the girls’ brackets, the teams of Caitlin Ledoux (Phelan, Calif.) / Tara Roenicke (Alta Loma, Calif.) and Lara Dykstra (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) / Jocelyn Neely (La Habra, Calif.) will compete for the United States.

On the boys’ side, the teams of Maddison McKibbin (Honolulu, Hawai’i / Will Montgomery (Santa Barbara, Calif.) and Tony Ciarelli (Huntington Beach, Calif.) / Jeff Carlson (Newport Beach, Calif.) will play in The Hague.

“I’m really excited about the players we have chosen for the U.S. Youth National Beach Team and it’s been exciting to see their exponential growth in such a short time of training,” said USA Volleyball Master Coach for Beach Programs Danalee Corso.

“I think this trip to Netherlands will be very valuable experience for these young athletes. I truly believe they all have the potential to be top pro beach players some day if they choose to go down that road.”

Roenicke and Montgomery both represented the United States at the SWATCH FIVB U-19 World Championships for beach volleyball in Myslowice, Poland.

Roenicke competed with Jazmin Machado. Montgomery paired with “Hawk” Hatcher.

USA Volleyball has also announced the training teams for the 2008 SWATCH FIVB Junior World Championships for beach volleyball on Sept. 3-7 in Brighton, England. The teams that will compete in Brighton will be chosen from among this group by Corso.

The men’s training team consists of:
