COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (July 2, 2008) - The match between the U.S. Men's Junior National Team and Puerto Rico's junior men on Wednesday at the 2008 NORCECA Continental Men's Junior Championship in San Salvador, El Salvador, had to be stopped due to an irreparable leak in the roof and steady rains.

Although the teams had already played two sets, the match will be started over from the beginning at 8:30 a.m. MDT on Thursday. Cuba and El Salvador, which were due to play after the United States and Puerto Rico on Wednesday, will play their match at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday.

Puerto Rico had won the first set, 33-31, while the United States took the second, 26-24, when the match was stopped for an hour and 40 minutes because of the rain. The teams had played three points of the third set when the rains stopped play permanently.

Win or lose, the U.S. Junior Men will have to play in Thursday evening's quarterfinal round as Canada won Pool A with a perfect 3-0 record. The quarterfinal matches will be played at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.

The NORCECA Men's Junior Continental Championships is a qualifier for the 2009 FIVB Men's Junior World Championship.
