Parents' Hospitality - A Red Carpet Room Experience at USAV Boys' Junior National Championships
The USA Volleyball Foundation is offering a unique opportunity for parents attending the 2013 USA Volleyball Boys’ Junior National Championships, featuring nationally-renowned speaker and five-time New York Times best-selling author Joe Garner on June 29-30 in Reno.
For two days only, parents will have their very own special and separate get-away location, “Parent Red Carpet Room,” with comfortable seating, free Wi-Fi and business center, various snacks and beverages, lounge area and much more.
“Parents and coaches are invited to come join us for ‘A Red Carpet Experience,’ said Tim McCune, USAV Director of Development, who oversees the USA Volleyball Foundation. “This is our way of telling parents and coaches ‘thank you’ for all of their hard work and support of their athletes and USA Volleyball.”
The Foundation is bringing acclaimed author and keynote speaker Joe Garner to the “Parent Red Carpet Room” for three exclusive presentations. Garner has chronicled many of the most pivotal moments in U.S. and sports history through his various books where he combines the written word with multimedia.
Broadcast icon Larry King said, “Joe Garner is the ‘Ken Burns’ of the written and taped word.”
“You know being the parent of an aspiring athlete is a hard job,” said Garner. “Join me in the Parents’ Red Carpet Room, where I’ll share with you some of the very different, yet inspiring stories, of superstar athletes and their parents.
“For instance, I’ll share with you the one and only time NFL great Archie Manning says he had to push his son Peyton. And what boxing great Oscar de la Hoya said was missing between he and his father. And I’ll also reveal what NASCAR champ Jeff Gordon says is the best piece of advice he ever got from his parents.”
Garner will give his multimedia presentations at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 29, and 10 a.m. on Sunday, June 30.
His groundbreaking book, We Interrupt This Broadcast, sold nearly 700,000 copies and became a New York Times bestseller. He also celebrated the most amazing moments in sports with And the Crowd Goes Wild and And the Fans Roared. Other best sellers include Stay Tuned: Television’s Unforgettable Moments, Now Showing: Unforgettable Moments from the Movies and, most recently, 100 Yards of Glory, a book and documentary about the greatest moments in NFL history with Bob Costas, which became a New York Times and USA Today bestseller in January of 2012.

The Parent Red Carpet Room will be open from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. on both days in Meeting Room C1, Concourse C of the Reno-Sparks Convention Center. Attendees will have all-day access. A donation of $25 per day is suggested.
