USA Volleyball has announced the schedule of 2013 Beach High Performance (BHP) Tryouts for U.S. athletes striving to participate in the various USA Beach Junior National Team and High Performance programs. Tryouts are open to U.S. citizens ages 12 to 25 who were born between 1988 and 2001.
Entry into USA Beach High Performance (BHP) programs is based upon selection at one of several USAV Beach High Performance Tryouts held in host regions March through June. Each tryout will include 3-4 hours of beach time where athletes strive to be selected for the USA Junior Beach National Training Teams (Junior A1), USA High Performance Teams (Junior A2), USA High Performance Camps (Junior A3 and A4), or Senior A2 Teams.
Athletes are divided into six age classifications and are evaluated and ranked based on the entire tryout population in their age classification. Participants must have a current USAV membership (available online or through your local region) and be a U.S. citizen. A membership link will be sent to those who are not verified as current USAV members.
Tryouts will be led by USA Volleyball Beach CAP certified coaches. All athletes will receive a written evaluation and do not need to sign up with a partner. Registration is $70 per participant per tryout. All registration is online and closes midnight PT the Wednesday before each event. Walk-up and late registrations may be accepted on a space-available basis, plus $25 late entry fee. Athletes may attend more than one tryout.

For NCAA student-athletes: The Beach High Performance Tryouts are USAV-sanctioned Beach National Team tryouts in compliance with NCAA regulations. Your institution may be permitted to pay for your tryout and related travel. Refer questions to your institution’s compliance counselor who may call the NCAA membership services interpretation hotline with questions. NCAA athletes are required to inform their head coach that they are attending the tryouts in advance. If selected for a National Team or High Performance competition, NCAA athletes must receive required clearance from their university’s athletic department no fewer than 45 days prior to departure if the event conflicts with any academic or athletic dates. Athletes who are attending the tryouts for training purposes only and are unable to attend a championship event if selected, should make this known upon registration.
