Auburn University To Host 2014 College National Championship
USA Team Handball has announced today that 2014 College National Championships will be hosted by Auburn University Handball Club in partnership with the Auburn-Opelika Tourism Bureau, April 11-13 in Auburn, Alabama.
"We were very pleased with the quality of proposals we received," said USATH Technical Director Mariusz Wartalowicz, "but taking into consideration factors such as our strategic regional developmental pathways, the bid from Auburn provides opportunities that we hope to capitalize on in the coming years."
The announcement is just the latest news to include Auburn University and USATH. In August, USATH announced the partnership with the university to create a long-term residency program for both the Men's and Women's National Teams.
"The level of support we have received from Auburn University and the Auburn-Opelika community is unparalleled," said USATH Chief Executive Officer Matt Van Houten. "I'm confident that this will be a fantastic experience for all involved and that the bar will be raised significantly for future college nationals."
The full information packet and registration details should be released by mid-January, with competitions scheduled in both gender categories. During the tournament, USATH plans to run another open tryout for senior National Teams and any candidates seeking acceptance into Auburn-based long-term residency programs.
