IHF Trophy Tournament 2012: Players, coaches and referees wanted!
USA Team Handball announced today its intention to field two National Teams of fourteen players per gender, women’s U19 (players born in 1993 and younger) and men’s U20 (players born in 1992 and younger) for upcoming 2012 IHF Trophy Tournament (North Region) in Mexico City, Mexico, tentatively scheduled for November 6 to 11, 2012. Dates are subject to change by IHF and/or host organizing committee.
In anticipation of official acceptance to the program, the USA Team Handball has announced search for the following positions:
- Women’s Lead Coach
- Women’s Assistant Coach/Head of Delegation - Women
- Men’s Lead Coach
- Men’s Assistant Coach/Head of Delegation Men
- Referee #1
- Referee #2
- Age eligible athletes
Individuals interested in coaching positions should email the application form to email@example.com no later than Friday, August 3, 2012. Nominated coaches will be responsible for conducting tryouts, if necessary, selecting players for both teams, and leading key logistic aspects of this exciting opportunity. Female coaches are strongly encouraged to apply to receive priority consideration. Also, all candidates will have to be registered with and certified by the USATH, before the event’s starting date, at least Level 1 “Gateway”. Detailed information about certification process can be found here. During the event, IHF will offer mandatory coaching course.
Individuals interested in traveling to IHF trophy as referees should email firstname.lastname@example.org (Cc: email@example.com) no later than Friday, August 3, 2012. Selected candidates will attend the event as a pair, including IHF mandatory officials course. Both nominees must be/come USATH certified officials prior to the event and be approved by the National Refereeing Committee.
Coaching staff will be eligible for coaching and management stipends and full reimbursement of travel expenses.
All aspiring and age eligible athletes (must be members of USATH, US citizens and hold valid US passport) are encouraged to apply by sending email to firstname.lastname@example.org no later than August 3, 2012. The email must include attachment with copy of player’s passport front page with photo plus the following:
- Full name as written in the US passport
- Passport number
- Passport expiration date
- Home address
- Player’s phone
- Player’s email
- School information including Principal’s name and email
- Best airport to depart from

USA Team Handball may conduct formal regional tryouts for both gender groups. USATH coaches will work with local/regional team/club coaches to make sure that all interested players receive fair chance of making the teams. However, players are strongly advised to contact their local team/club coaches now for priority consideration.
All expenses, including air travel, except incidentals will be covered by the IHF’s grant and the USATH.
