LA Times reports on USA Team Handball's Challenges

July 18, 2012, 8 a.m. (ET)

As the countdown to the 2012 London Olympics approaches July 27, media outlets around the US are out to cover every Olympic angle they can think of.

As such, our sport of team handball has seen its fair share of media coverage in recent days.

Take last Sunday's Los Angeles Times article.  It profiled three events in which Team USA will not be competing at this year's Summer Olympics. Team handball was one of the three. The article included quotes from interim GM Dave Gascon and national team players Sarah Gascon, Jordan Fithian and Gabe Goodreau.

Speaking of Gabe, he was a guest on Steve Adler's radio show which aired last night (Tuesday, July 17, 2012) on San Diego's XTRA 1360AM radio station. Listen to Gabe's interview here.

Then there is Wall Street Journal's Stu Woo who ventured into the world of team handball as part of WSJ's The Daily Fix "How hard can it be" series. Stu got in some practice time with the New York Team Handball Club and he filed this video blog.

Or, you may want to give Gregg Gethard (of independent sports website) a read. His saucy take on the state of USATH affairs is both entertaining and tad controversial.

And as the saying goes - no media coverage is bad coverage.

And while team handball will not represent the US in London this summer, the world should know that all our dedicated athletes will continue to perfect their craft as they set aim for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro

Companies and individuals interested in supporting our athletes and becoming part of the growing family of USA Team Handball sponsors (Snapsports, Grundfos, Burrda) should contact General Manager Dave Gascon at (801) 463-2000 or email at
