U23 Men's National Team to compete at Four Nations Cup

USA Team Handball announced today its U23 Men’s National Team will compete this June in The Four Nations Cup in Germany.


The tournament will take place in Timmendorfer Strand in Schleswig Holstein, Germany, near the Baltic Sea. From June 4 through 6, USATH’s U23 Men’s National Team will compete against the Irish National Team, Luxemburg National Team, and Bad Schwartau, a Division 2 Bundesliga Club. The U.S. will also practice and scrimmage with local Bundesliga clubs in the area before and after the tournament. The team will spend a total of eight days in Germany.


The final roster, to be announced soon, will consist of 16 players. The team will primarily comprise athletes under the age of 23.

Matt Sabatino, Armed Forces Liaison for USATH, will coach the team. The former Men’s National Team athlete and coach of Army Team Handball will be assisted by Boban Zivovic, USATH Southwest Regional Coach. Christian Hentschel, a veteran Bundesliga athlete who has coached the Kuwait Junior National Team, will serve as the trip’s goalkeeper coach and team manager. He currently coach for in-house education at TSV Bayer Dormagen (1st Division Toyota Bundelsiga).
