Club spotlight: Denver Team Handball
Tucked away in the Rocky Mountains, the Denver Team Handball Club is helping the sport take hold in Colorado’s capital.
Denver Team Handball was formed in October 2008 and registered with USATH. Since its establishment, the club has grown to 50 registered members. The men’s and women’s teams practice one to two times per week, and take advantage of nearby squads Colorado Springs Landsharks and U.S. Air Force Falcons to scrimmage on a monthly basis.
Members of Denver and Minnesota, another newly-formed club, competed together as a team at 2009 Nationals and placed 19th. Head coach Attila Agoston, a Romanian National Team veteran and certified referee, said Denver has a variety of goals set for the upcoming season, including developing a youth team, winning the West Region Tournament and finishing in the top eight at 2010 Nationals.
Agoston is an active member of handball community in Colorado and assisted with initiatives such as Olympian Kathy Rex’s Landsharks Handball League. Members of Denver Team Handball also include:
