USA Team Handball has appointed Dominique Dumont as its Southeast Regional Director.
Dumont, a former member of the Canadian junior national handball team, holds years of experience in marketing, finance and business consultation. Fluent in French, she studied in Canada, France and the United States, earning a bachelor's degree in economics and an MBA. Dumont will use her entrepreneurial skills to help build team handball in her region.
Dumont believes that team handball is the best indoor sport because of the diverse skills needed to succeed, discipline and fast pace.
"My goal is not only to see the American handball elite make their mark on the international stage, but to put handballs in young children's hands and see them smile as they learn the sport," she said. "In my experience, everyone who plays enjoys it. My goal is clear: get more people playing and make sure we have enough clubs for everyone."
Dumont is the third regional director to be appointed. She will oversee the development and organization of team handball throughout
Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.
"Dominique will inject new life into handball programs in places like Atlanta, where handball flourished around the 1996 Olympics." Steve said. "Her business acumen, plus handball passion, is a great combination."
