USATH Residency Program Men's Tryout

Auburn, Alabama

Interested in becoming an Olympic athlete one day?

Would you like to represent the United States on an international stage?
The USA Team Handball Federation is holding an open Men's tryout for the USATH Residency Program on July 19, 2014 in Auburn, Alabama. The tryout will be held in the Beard-Eaves Memorial Coliseum on the campus of Auburn University.

Athletes joining our program will train year round and play in both domestic and international events as preparation to compete on a world level. Candidates chosen for the Residency Program will have the opportunity to continue their education at Auburn University or other local post-secondary institutions. Non-students will be provided assistance in off-campus housing and job placement. Players also may be eligible for Elite Athlete Health Insurance from the United States Olympic Committee through USA Team Handball.

We are looking for outstanding athletes who are willing to work hard and have fun learning to play team handball. Men currently participating in collegiate or high school athletics are encouraged to tryout. No team handball experience is necessary. The flexibility of USA Team Handball allows you to participate year round in multiple sports, work, and/or go to school. This may be an opportunity for senior athletes, or non-varsity athletes to continue their athletic careers and live their Olympic dream!

We need players for all positions, but goalkeepers and court players, especially left-handed, showing above-average morphological, and physical potential will receive priority consideration.

Interested players must register on-line via AllPlayers.com and pay a non-refundable $15 fee. Potential candidates are also responsible for arranging their own transportation to/from Auburn, Ala. along with room and board. Athletes should plan on arriving in town Friday evening and departing late in the evening on Saturday or on Sunday. On the day of testing there will be two on-court evaluation sessions, one in the morning (10:30 a.m.) and one in early afternoon (4:45 p.m.). Most promising candidates may be invited to join the USA Team Handball Residency Program!
