2014 U.S. Open Registration Update
The deadline for registering to participate in the 2014 U.S. Open Taekwondo Championships has been extended to Jan. 31, 2014, with no penalty for late registration. This extension is due to glitches that have been occurring with the current registration system in use by USA Taekwondo. We apologize for any inconvenience that our taekwondo family has experienced with the registration process and also with the process of registering for the Global Athlete License/Global Officials License. We will process all registrations as quickly as possible. Late registration fees will accrue with applications that are submitted beginning Feb. 1, 2014. Thank you for your patience and your understanding.
We are aware of the difficulties that you may be encountering in registering for both the event and for the required Global Athlete License (GAL). We offer our sincere apologies for any inconveniences that you may be enduring to get registered to participate in our U.S. Open Taekwondo Championships. Rest assured that once you register for the event through Hang-A-Star, we will process your GAL application in time for you to participate in our event. You will receive email confirmation that your registration has been processed.
All athletes, coaches and team members must process for the GAL in order to participate at the 2014 U.S. Open Taekwondo Championships. This is a World Taekwondo Federation requirement for all International Open championships recognized by the WTF. The GAL is no longer an option; it is a requirement. Once you complete your registration for the event itself, you must then also apply for the Global Athlete License. If you have difficulty processing the GAL application, we will insure that you will be allowed to compete in our event upon receipt of proof of your attempt to process the GAL application. You will not be denied to compete in the U.S. Open.
As you may know, there is one WTF G-2 event per continent. Those events are the Luxor (Egypt) Open, the Korea Open, the Australia Open, the Dutch Open and the U.S. Open. We welcome your participation, anticipate great competitions and look forward to seeing you in Las Vegas!
