Nov 12 From the CEO: USA Taekwondo Referee Chairs named

Nov. 12, 2013, 12:43 p.m. (ET)

USA Taekwondo today named Ms. Anne Chase and Mr. Myung Chan Kim as Co-Chairs of the USA Taekwondo Referee Committee. Their appointment is effective immediately. I have complete faith and trust that they will work together to help to improve an already very good Referee Program in an effort to make it the premier Referee Training, Certification and Development program in the world.

My sincere thanks to Mr. John Seiber, who has served as the Referee Chair for the past four years, along with his Referee Team. Together they were able to develop our Referee Program and to increase the number of certified USA Taekwondo Referees nationally. The hard work and dedication of Mr. Seiber and his Referee Team is greatly appreciated by not only myself, but also by National and International Referees in the United States of America. Their many hours of sacrifice have not gone unnoticed, nor are they unappreciated. I have reached out to Mr. Seiber and asked that he help to facilitate the transition of our newly appointed Referee Chairs through the upcoming 2014 National Team Trials and the 2014 U.S. Open.

Both Ms. Chase and Mr. Kim bring a wealth of Referee experience, as well as Referee management experience to their new position. Ms. Chase has served for many years as a member of several past Referee administrations in the position of Vice-Chair. Mr. Kim currently serves as the Referee Chair of the Pan American Taekwondo Union (PATU) and was also the 2012 Olympic Referee from the United States. It is my belief that together they will make a very proactive team that will help to improve our Referee Program, while also looking out for the needs of USA Taekwondo referees. They will have direct access to me regarding Referee matters and I will do my best to empower them to be successful in their new position as Co-Referee Chairs of the USA Taekwondo Referee Committee. USA Taekwondo has previously had Co-Chairs of its Referee Committee when Mr. John Holloway and Mr. Leon Preston served as Co-Chairs.

Leadership of the National Referee Program is a daunting and challenging task, requiring many hours of behind the scenes work. It also takes a lot of time away from family and other businesses. That is the nature of the position. In speaking with both Ms. Chase and Mr. Kim, I am confident that both are willing to make the necessary sacrifices in order to make the Referee Program a great success. I would urge that all current USA Taekwondo Referees reach out and give your support to Mr. Kim and Ms. Chase as they endeavor to strengthen and continue to grow our USA Taekwondo Referee Program.
