USA Taekwondo will be scaling back and unpublishing old athlete biographies from the website due to an overabundance (450+) that causes congestion on the page. While USAT takes great pride in each of its athletes’ accomplishments over the years, it feels that it is in the best interest of the organization to clean up that space and make the biographical portion of our website more navigable.
As of June 3, 2013, USAT will use the athlete profile page to only feature Olympians, all World Championship medalists and Senior, Junior and Cadet Team members from the past five years. Additionally, the High Performance page will list all USA Taekwondo Olympians (2000-2012 and test event years), as well as World Championship medalists by year. The purpose of having biographies on the website is to offer useful information to media and membership alike. These are important changes to help make information gathering quick and effortless.
For those members who have biographies on the USAT website but do not meet the criteria of keeping an active profile, please know that USAT will keep these profiles archived but unpublished. While they will not be visible online, USAT will not delete any biographies. If any of these athletes should meet the aforementioned criteria at a later date, USAT staff will simply update and publish those profiles to the appropriate place.
The USA Taekwondo website functions under the U.S. Olympic Committee web platform. The reason USAT is unable to simply drop the archived biographies into an active folder is because on this platform, any active biographies that reside on the site are automatically housed on the massive ‘Athletes’ page of the website. If USAT were to drop archived biographies into an active folder elsewhere on the website (i.e. the High Performance page), they would still appear on the ‘Athletes’ page, thus still making it difficult to navigate.
USAT sincerely apologizes for any inconvenience this change may cause.
