Letter from the CEO: Coach hiring process

March 14, 2013, 12:22 p.m. (ET)

USA Taekwondo is in the process of hiring a new Head Coach. The process is as follows: 22 Coach Applications were accepted by the Tuesday 11:59 p.m. deadline. Of those 22, the Search Committee is selecting the top eight (8) candidates based on the resumés submitted by the Coach candidates. Those who were not selected in the top eight will be notified today. The selected top eight candidates will also be contacted today to set up telephone interviews that will take place today and tomorrow (Friday). Following the telephone interviews, the Search Committee will select the top three (3) Coach candidates. Those three persons will be flown to Colorado Springs for in-person final interviews. The Search Committee will make its recommendation as to which candidate should be hired as National Team Coach. Members of the National Team Coach Search Committee are: USAT High Performance Director Meredith Miller; USAT Coaching Science Committee Chair Brian McCutcheon; Athlete Representative Barb Kunkel; and myself, as USAT Interim CEO. The final hiring decision will be made by me, as the Interim CEO of USA Taekwondo.

I would like to publicly thank all of the interested parties for applying for the position of USA Taekwondo National Team Coach. The level of interest is duly noted and sincerely appreciated. Most of the Coach applicants have devoted much of their lives to the development of great athletes within our USA Taekwondo organization. It is my sincere hope that you will all continue to develop and train our USA athletes so that we may have great representation in international competitions in the short term and in the years to come.
