Mar 05 Bruce Harris named Interim CEO

USA Taekwondo, the National Governing Body for taekwondo in the United States of America, and its Transitional Board of Directors have named Bruce Harris as the organization's new Interim CEO.

Harris is a taekwondo practitioner with 40 years of experience in the sport. His taekwondo career began while serving in Seoul, South Korea, with the United States Army. His taekwondo accomplishments include being named the Referee Captain at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games, which the first time that taekwondo was an official Olympic Sport. He is the highest rated International Referee certified by the World Taekwondo Federation, the International Federation that governs Olympic taekwondo worldwide.

Harris has previous experience as the Executive Director of Taekwondo and brings a wealth of experience and international ties in taekwondo to the position as Interim CEO of USA Taekwondo.

“I appreciate the excellent efforts of my predecessor, Mr. Eric Parthen, as he shepherded our organization through a very difficult time,” Harris said. “It is my intent to work diligently to build on his efforts and to help grow the membership in our taekwondo organization, and to provide an improved framework for the success of our taekwondo athletes in international and Olympic competition.”
