Board of Directors drops Interim tag, names Harris permanent CEO

July 26, 2013, 1:56 p.m. (ET)

On July 11, the Interim tag was removed from CEO Bruce Harris’ title following a special Board of Directors meeting to decide on the future of the USAT Chief Executive Director position. After a BOD vote, Harris was made permanent CEO of USA Taekwondo effective July 11, 2013.

“I am very pleased to have been hired as the permanent CEO of USA Taekwondo,” said Harris. “I understand the challenges that lie ahead and I am ready to do my best to restore USA Taekwondo to global prominence, and to become a leader in the taekwondo world once again.”

USAT and the Board of Directors held off on announcing the full-time hire until after World Championships when Harris’ contract could be drafted, finalized and signed.

Harris was named Interim CEO of USA Taekwondo on Feb. 25, 2013, following the departure of former CEO Eric Parthen. Harris was named CEO after his credentials closely matched the requirements set forth by the Board of Directors’ CEO Search Committee.
