Notes from USA TKD Transitional Board of Directors Meeting
NOTES FROM USA TAEKWONDO’S TRANSITIONAL BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING
Colorado Springs, Colorado – USA Taekwondo’s Transitional Board of Directors held its first face-to-face Board meeting in Colorado Springs, Colorado from October 6-8, 2012. This meeting provided an excellent opportunity for Board members to get to know each other and begin to chart the future strategic direction for the organization. Important agenda items from the meeting included, but are not limited to, the following:
- Anne Chase, Referee Director, was elected Board Chair by acclamation.
- A collaborative discussion occurred with USOC representatives Rick Adams, Managing Director, NGB Organizational Development, and Gary Johansen, Associate General Counsel, regarding USA Taekwondo’s Section 10 compliance.
- A full day of governance training led by internationally respected consultant Dale Neuberger from TSE Consulting.
- Marty Mankamyer resigned her seat as Independent Director citing current personal and professional obligations that are not allowing her to focus as much time on USA Taekwondo as the organization deserves.
“I am honored to serve as the Chair of USAT’s Board of Directors. I believe all of the directors share the optimism, motivation, and sense of duty to the membership that I feel,” said newly elected Board Chair Anne Chase. “Our mission is difficult, our time is short. Our team is strong, multi-talented, and ready to work. I believe when our term ends in March, the next board will find the tools it needs to lead our NGB into the next quadrennium and beyond,” Chase added.
USA Taekwondo would also like to thank Marty Mankamyer for her service to the organization. Mankamyer served the organization in a particularly turbulent time and her leadership and commitment was recognized by the Board in the meeting and greatly appreciated.
