Terrence Jennings (Alexandria, Va.) and Diana Lopez (Sugar Land, Texas) have moved back into medal contention via the repechage round in the Olympic taekwondo competition at the ExCeL South Arena on Thursday.

Jennings was pulled back into medal contention after Turkey’s Servet Tazegul reached the finals in the men’s -68kg division, while Lopez benefitted from China’s Hou Yuzhuo advancing to the finals of the women’s -57kg weight class.

Jennings will face Ukraine’s Hryhorii Husarov at 8:15 p.m. London Time (3:15 p.m. Eastern Time) in the first repechage round. Should he win, he will face Brazil’s Diogo Silva at 9:15 p.m. London Time for one of the two bronze medals awarded.

Lopez will meet Finland’s Suvi Mikkonen at 8:30 p.m. London Time in the opening repechage round and a win there would advance her to a bronze-medal match at 9:30 p.m. London Time against top see Li-Cheng Tseng of Chinese Taipei. Lopez won a bronze medal in the -57kg weight class four years ago in Beijing.
