National Poomsae Team Members Double-Up at Collegiates

Several U.S. National Poomsae Team members enjoyed success in both forms and sparring at the 34th National Collegiate Taekwondo Championships held March 21-22 at Brown University in Providence, R.I.

Jason Hwang (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif./Cal State-San Bernardino), Johnny Nguyen (Tempe, Ariz./Arizona State) and Anthony Nguyen (Chandler, Ariz./Arizona State) teamed up to take the gold medal in the men's team poomsae event. Hwang also won gold in the men's bantamweight sparring division and took bronze in the men's individual poomsae event. Johnny Nguyen, named NCTA Male Athlete of the Year, won sparring gold in the men's finweight class and earned a silver medal in the individual poomsae competition, while his brother, Anthony Nguyen, captured the bronze medal in the men's featherweight sparring division.

A fourth member of the 2008 U.S. National Poomsae Team, Matthew Dunlap (Hermiston, Ore./Blue Mountain C.C.) won the gold medal in the men's individual poomsae competition.
