June 15, 2009, 5:17 p.m. (ET)

Olympic silver medalist Mark Lopez (Sugar Land, Texas) is ranked first in the men's lightweight division in the recently released World Taekwondo Federation's world rankings. The ranking points were awarded in accordance with the WTF Ranking Bylaw and will be regularly updated and announced.

Other U.S. athletes among the top five in their respective divisions are Steven Lopez (tied for 2nd in men's welterweight), Diana Lopez (tied for 2nd in women's featherweight), Charlotte Craig (4th in women's flyweight), Johnny Nguyen (5th in men's finweight), Gus Villa (5th in men's flyweight) and Trevor Neville (5th in men's lightweight).

Athletes who participated in the Beijing Olympic Games were awarded pertinent ranking points at their registered weight division through a verification process. However, some athletes were ranked at the weight division where they competed at Beijing Olympic Games since the WTF has not received weight division verification to this date.
