Mar 07 Rocky Mountain Open Dec. 6-7 in Colorado Springs

The Rocky Mountain Open will take place December 6-7, 2008, at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. All participants will have a chance to stay at the Olympic Training Center and mingle with great athletes from a variety of Olympic sports.

The event will include competition in sparring, forms and board breaking. As of Nov. 13, board breaking has been opened to ages 9 & Under. See the Board Breaking Rules here.

Grand Champions will be awarded in forms, and the 14-17 & Senior black belt sparring competitors will use the adidas electronic body protectors for all matches.

In order to keep the Rocky Mountain Open in line with local Colorado events, USA Taekwondo has waived the registration fees and Associate Coach quiz requirement for this event, as long as coaches register before November 21. There will be a $25 on-site registration fee for coaches not registered by the Nov. 21 deadline.

Winners of the 14-17 & Senior black belt divisions have a chance to fight in the Rocky Mountain Cup division which includes winners from all weight classes competing against each other. Winners of the Rocky Mountain Cup receive free registration at the 2009 U.S. Open. 

All athletes, coaches and referees must complete the OTC medical history form and waivers before the event. The forms can be found on pages 22-34 of the Athlete Registration Packet.

REMINDER: ALL Athletes and Coaches must complete the Olympic Training Center paperwork prior to the competition. Here are the Athlete and Coach forms. Return completed forms to Travis Oosthoek at travis.oosthoek@usa-taekwondo.us or fax to 719-866-4642.

Also, the Pan American Development Camp is being held Dec. 4-6 at the Olympic Training Center and is open to all U.S. athletes who are black belts with a 1st Dan or higher ranking. Cost for the camp is $350 which include OTC room and board and entry into the Rocky Mountain Open event, Dec. 6-7.
