Han Xiao was born in Nanjing, China in 1986, and moved to the Washington, DC area at age 2. He began playing table tennis at the age of 6, won numerous Junior Olympics and Junior Nationals titles as a junior, and was a perennial member of the US Junior team.
Some of his achievements include being named to the US Men's World Team in 2004, 2005, 2007, and 2008, as well as being a part of the 2007 US Men's Pan Am Team. He is a two time National Men's Doubles champion, as well as the defending National Mixed Doubles champion. He was coached in his early years by former Chinese National team member Cheng Yinghua, as well as Hall of Famer Larry Hodges, but has been self-coached for the last couple of years and is currently taking a break from competitive play.
Outside of table tennis, Han is a 2008 graduate from the University of Maryland, with degrees in Computer Science and General Business, and is currently working for an IT firm in Bethesda, MD. His other interests include music, reading, movies, and other sports.
