I am very pleased to join USATT Media, for a couple of reasons.
First, they do great work. They make our sport more attractive. In doing so, they have dramatically increased USOC portal traffic, earning tens of thousands of dollars for our association.
Second, I will be working with Sean. He is a master of modern media, the Yoda of the web. I have a lot to learn, but I have time and energy to devote. It will be fun.
When I was in Las Vegas last month, a chance encounter with Sean turned into a four-hour conversation over dinner. I found that we share many important thoughts. We both have a burning desire to hear the Star Spangled Banner played at an Olympic table tennis venue. We both believe that table tennis clubs are an essential component for raising the popularity and prestige level of our sport in this country. And, we can do so much more to portray our top players as the star athletes they are.
When my friend Jim McQueen won the election for the Board seat I had sought, I was left wondering how I could contribute. Ten years service to the association did not seem nearly enough. Here is a chance to make a difference. I embrace it.
