2014 FRIENDSHIP TROPHY | 8 March 2014 – International Women’s Day
Dear President and Secretary General,
International Women's Day is a global day celebrating the economic, political and social achievements of women past, present and future.
As we approach the 8th of March 2014, we look forward to another round of the Friendship Trophy being organised in many countries around the world as it was done in recent years.
Each country will choose to celebrate the contributions made by women in their unique ways.
As part of the Table Tennis Family, we would like to encourage you, your clubs and players to find a way to celebrate women and girls in Table Tennis. They may be coaches, players; they may be administrators and umpires; they may be members of your own family, who have supported you, and many others to become leaders in Table Tennis. The celebrations may be a fun day of Table Tennis (Friendship Trophy), an evening of song and dance or whatever suits your particular environment.
Sport is renowned for its ability to bring people of disparate backgrounds together, to help heal nations and individuals, to build bridges on solid foundations of trust and friendship. In using this day annually, the Table Tennis Family can make its own unique contribution to women and gender equity in the same way as Table Tennis contributed to the re-building of lives in Sri Lanka and is making a similar contribution to Haiti, East Timor, Congo Democratic, Burundi and many other nations in the world – some very close to us.If you do organise some activity on or around Saturday, 8 March 2014, please be so kind to:
- Register online on our 2014 Friendship Trophy entry page
- Send us a short report on firstname.lastname@example.org
- Send us some photos on email@example.com
We need to be able to showcase the contribution that Table Tennis, through you, makes across the world to improving people’s lives.
Should you have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to contact us on the same e-mail.
Yours in Sport,
