Mar 07 US Disabled Team Shines in Rio

Team USA brought home 2 Gold, 1 Silver, and 1 Bronze Medal at the Brazilian Open for the Disabled, which concluded in Rio de Janeiro on Saturday 20th August 2011.

Pam Fontaine of Fort Worth was the big winner taking home both Singles (Women's Class 1-3) and Team titles (Women's Class 1-5) along with Tara Profitt of Hartford.  Profitt earned a Bronze in the Women's Class 1-3 after losing to Fontaine in the semi-finals.

On the Men's side, Daryl Sterling, Jr. of San Diego took Gold in the Men's Standing Class 7 and then teamed up with Juan Carlos Sepulvuda (Chile) to earn a Silver in the Men's Class 7 team event.
