Maggie Meng Tien defeated Ariel Hsing in an all-California final for the Under-21 Women’s title at the U.S. Open in Grand Rapids, Mich. The event drew a total of 737 entries. The California team of Ge Jie Mai and Jiaqi Zheng reached the Women’s Doubles final before falling to Midori Ito and Mogumi Abe of Japan. Among the age group winners from the U.S. were: Huijing Wang of Texas in Over-30 Women; Ilija Lupulesku of Illinois in Over-40 Men’s; Amy Feng of Maryland in Over-40 Women; Daniel Seemiller of Indiana in Over-50 Men’s; and Charlene Xiaoying Liu of Maryland in Over-50 Women’s.
