What's New in Table Tennis - Dec. 8

The first stage of team competition is complete at the World Junior Table Tennis Championships and both the U.S. boys’ and girls’ teams are left to compete for places between 13th and 20th. The U.S. Boys’ team beat Paraguay, 3-1, Sunday behind two victories by Yahao Zhang and one by Charles Deng. USA and India then met with a main draw spot on the line and Zhang went 1-1 but the team lost, 3-1. The U.S. Girls’ team also needed a win in its final match to advance but lost, 3-1, to the Czech Republic. The team lost, 3-0, to Korea earlier Sunday.
