How were you introduced to table tennis:
At 7 years old, I was trying out many different sports and activities. Table Tennis was just one of the activities my parents introduced me to. I really enjoyed it, and as I progressed and got better, I started dropping other activities and focusing on improving my table tennis skills. I still train with the same coach, and at the same club I started learning how to play at back in 1997.
I grew up in Gaithersburg, Maryland and attended an all-girls prep school (Holton-Arms) growing up. At 12, I was selected to the U.S. National Cadet Team, and won a scholarship to train in Japan at Butterfly Tamasu's official training center. From then on, I traveled as a member of the U.S. National team, and gained experience at international tournaments around the world, until I graduated high school and left for college. I attended the ivy league school, the University of Pennsylvania and majored in Health Care Management and Chinese language. I graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor of arts, and am currently working for Censeo Consulting a supply chain consulting firm in D.C. Balancing a demanding work schedule, with a table-tennis training schedule while trying to remain a normal 22 year old has proven to be a challenging but very rewarding experience. I have participated in the 2004 Athens Olympic Trials as well as the 2008 Olympic Trials, and hope 2012 will be my lucky year.
