October 2013 President's Letter
Well it has been a busy time since October 1st!
The beginning of the month, I attended meetings in Colorado Springs. They included NGB Best Practices Seminars, USOC SportsLink, NGB Council, AAC and the US Olympic and Paralympic Assembly. It was a busy week with great speakers, seminars, losts of networking and a kick-off to Sochi.
One big issue at the NGB Council was the unanimous passing of the recommendations of the Task Force on Safe Initiatives. You will be hearing more about this in the days to come, but let me say this; the NGB Council and the USOC are committed to weeding out all of the predators who are engaged with our athletes. All athletes deserve to train and compete in a safe environment and our organizations are dedicated to making this happen.
Our competitive season has come to an end with our Masters Championships. Thank you, Albuquerque, for a job well done and congratulations to all of the swimmers.
Coming up we have very important events; Coaches College, Judges Update and Trials. We are all looking forward to the planned sessions at both and to the sharing of information from our peers that takes place after the sessions. We have a delegation of twelve people going to the Worldwide Seminar for Coaches and Judges in St. Petersburg. We eagerly await their return and sharing of all that they learned there.
Our new Head National Team Coach, Julie Fabre, is finally here! Many of you will have the opportunity to meet her at Coaches College. Please introduce yourself to her. I know that all of you will welcome her to our country and organization.
Our clubs are busy with planning for the upcoming season, fall training, choreographing routines and a some water shows too. Wow you are busy!!
Good luck in the upcoming season and…
President, USA Synchro
