US Has Strong Showing at Mediterranean Cup

INDIANAPOLIS - A U.S. squad made up of members of four club teams posted some strong performances earlier this month at the Mediterranean Cup in Andorra La Vella, Andorra.

The Mediterranean Cup is the highest level of competition in the world for synchronized swimmers ages 13 to 15, with more than 20 countries competing.

U.S. soloist Olivia Ekberg of the Arizona Desert Dolphins finished in fifth place, scoring 78.813 points. In the duet, Leilah Talukder and Celine Joo of the Santa Clara Aquamiads were sixth with 148.4124 points.

A U.S. squad made up of members of the 13-15 Walnut Creek Aquanuts and Riverside Aquettes took fifth with 77.138 points in the final.

Team members included: Katya Mizin, Regina Kong, Renee Stehlik, Daria Torba, Dana Drury, Lauren Simonelli and Peyton LeGate, all of Walnut Creek, and Catalina Nedelcu of Riverside.

Drury, Ekberg, Joo, Luu, Nedelcu, Talukder and Torba are members of the U.S. 13-15 National Team.
