Walnut Creek and Santa Clara win at US Nationals

GREENSBORO, N.C.The Walnut Creek Aquanuts and Santa Clara Aquamaids swam to team titles Saturday at the 2013 SwimOutlet.com U.S. National Synchronized Swimming Championships at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.

The Aquanuts finished with 34 overall points to take the senior high-point team award, just ahead of the University of the Incarnate Word, which finished with 31. Lindenwood University (25) was third, Ohio State (15) fourth and the Santa Clara Aquamaids (11) fifth.

Santa Clara won the junior team final en route to taking the junior high-point team award. The Aquamaids, with 61 points, edged Walnut Creek (59) for the title. The New Canaan Y Aquianas were third, followed by Indy Synchro(12) and the Riverside Aquettes (11).

The championships combine the U.S. Junior National Championships (14-18-year-olds) and U.S. Senior National Championships (15 and over) into a single event.
