US Olympic duet to take part in Celebration of Champions
INDIANAPOLIS – The U.S. Olympic-synchronized-swimming duet of Mariya Koroleva (Concord, Calif.) and Mary Killman (McKinney, Texas) will showcase their Olympic routines Saturday, June 16, as part of the Walnut Creek Aquanuts’ Celebration of Champions exhibition.
The event, to be held at Clarke Memorial Swim Center at Heather Farms in Walnut Creek, Calif., will also feature performances by the French and Czech Republic Olympic duets and the Walnut Creek Aquanuts. Tickets are $15, and the exhibition runs from 5 to 8 p.m.
Saturday’s event will be a homecoming for Koroleva, who competed with the Aquanuts from 1999 to 2008.
“I’m really excited to go back to Walnut Creek and swim at the Celebration of Champions," Koroleva said. "I’ve participated in that show before. It’s going to be really cool to be back at my home club, my home pool, seeing my family and friends and my old coaches. I’m just excited to showcase our routines. It’s going to be a great send-off to the Games.”
Koroleva and Killman will take part in their first Olympic Games when they compete Aug. 5-7 at the London Aquatics Centre.
