GENEVA – The U.S. Olympic synchronized swimming duet of Mary Killman (McKinney, Texas) and Mariya Koroleva (Concord, Calif.) won gold at the Swiss Open on Sunday in the duo’s final competition before the London Games.

The U.S. duet scored 87.300 points in the free routine Sunday. Killman and Koroleva also won Thursday’s technical routine with 86.300 points.

“I’m glad we were able to come out here and compete, as well as in Spain (at the Spanish Open). It’s going to be really nice coming home with a gold medal,” Killman said.

“We still have a lot of work ahead of us with the little time we have left before the Games, but we’re up for the challenge.”

Kazakhstan (Anna Kulkina and Aigerim Zhekembinova) finished second and host Switzerland (Pamela Fischer, Anja Nyfferler) was third. Mexico (Isabel Delgado, Nuria Diosdad) and Hungary (Esated Czekus, Szofi Kiss) finished fourth and fifth.

The top five duets at the Swiss Open will compete at the London Games on Aug. 5-7.
