Inaugural Synchro de Mayo Set for May 1 through 6

April 25, 2012, 12 a.m. (ET)
INDIANAPOLIS – USA Synchro is proud to announce its inaugural National Synchronized Swimming Week, May 1-6, 2012. Synchro de Mayo is an opportunity for everyone to learn about, experience and try synchronized swimming. Events will be held across the country to showcase all that this amazing sport has to offer. Everyone gets the chance to be a synchronized swimmer, or simply observe, for the day.

“This is a perfect opportunity for clubs to generate new interest," said USA Synchro Executive Director Terry Harper. "The goal is to get as many new people as possible to try or be exposed to the sport for a day."

Events in your area may include shows, free clinics, fun competitions, photo opportunities with top athletes, viewing parties of past competitions, craft tables where kids can design their own suits and other activities.

USA Synchro issues a formal challenge to all media outlets to try synchronized swimming. Reporters who have accepted the challenge will tell you it’s one of the hardest sports they’ve participated in. Wear your swimsuit and water wings – we’ll provide a nose clip, cap and goggles. To RSVP for “The Synchro Challenge,” or for more information, contact Liz Richardt at 317-237-5700 to find a club in your area.
