Team USA fifth in team free at FINA World Trophy

INDIANAPOLIS – The U.S. National Synchronized Swimming Team finished fifth in the team free routine Saturday at the 6th FINA World Trophy in Beijing.

Team USA remains in sixth place overall going into Sunday’s free combo.

“We were very happy with our swim, and it really came together in the end," said U.S. team member Alison Williams. "We get better every time we compete.” 

Spain won the team free with a 97.151 score, with host China second (94.525) and Canada (93.813) third. China remains on top in the overall standings followed by Spain and Russia.

The World Trophy consists of solo, duet, team and combinations, with scores given for artistic impression only. Competition continues Sunday with the free combo at 6 a.m. EST. A live webcast can be found at
