USA Synchro Announces Annual Winners
The USA Synchro Athlete-of-the-Year Award is presented to the athlete who has made the most significant and positive impact on the sport during the most recent competitive season. Earlier this year, Killman was crowned the national solo champion at the 2010 U.S. National Championships and has also been competing on the U.S. National Team that just returned home from the FINA World Cup in Changshu, China.
Killman got her start in the Dallas area while training with the Pirouettes of Texas. After four years of competing, she moved to Santa Clara, Calif., to further her career. She has since made five National Team appearances.
The Lillian MacKellar Award is USA Synchro’s most prestigious honor, given for unselfish service to the sport without the thought of personal gain and with particular emphasis on working for the benefit of the athlete.
Jackie McDaniel has been a volunteer with USA Synchro for nearly 30 years. She has served as the National Scoring Chair as well as played key roles in the scoring room at the 1995 FINA World Cup and the 1996 Olympic Games. She continues to score many of the USA Synchro National Championships and has served as the meet host for many USA Synchro events.
Congratulations to Mary Killman and Jackie McDaniel!
