Team USA Takes Bronze at Spanish Open
INDIANAPOLIS – The 2010 Spanish Open concluded Sunday, leaving the United States in bronze-medal position in both the solo and duet events. The competition kicked off Friday and featured teams from Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Spain, Switzerland and Venezuela.
Mary Killman posted an 88.8875, behind Andrea Fuentes of Spain (96.2375) and Stephan Giovana of Brazil (89.4875). In the duet, Meghan Kinney and Michelle Theriault scored an 89.0875, placing them behind Spain and Brazil as well. Spain's Fuentes teamed up with Ona Carbonell (96.5625) to earn the gold medal. Brazil's Nayara Figueira and Lara Teixeira were awarded the silver medal with an 89.5624.
The 2010 U.S. National Team is led by Jenny Ekhilevsky -- who has coached on the international scene for 11 years and was the 2008 Netherlands' Olympic Coach -- and Kimmy McKinley -- a former member of the U.S. National Team. The Team has been training in Santa Clara, Calif., since May.
